Who We Are
We are a waste management company that provides a range of integrated solutions aimed at tackling the sanitation and related environmental challenges found in emerging States.
In addition to our extensive fleet of collection vehicles, we have a state-of-the art facility situated in Oshodi, Lagos State that allows for a variety of eco-friendly disposal methods. On receipt of the waste at our facility, it will undergo the appropriate treatment option. All forms of treatment and disposals are performed under the most stringent of globally recommended environmental standards.
The focus of ABC Sanitation is to encourage a culture to Rethink, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. However, where this is not possible, the collected waste will have its final disposal at a fully compliant and engineered sanitary landfill.
The need for an environmentally acceptable yet cost-effective waste disposal has become a priority for all. In emerging States, the ever-increasing population and urbanization results in growing waste generation, placing pressure on the environment. Hence, the solution for a landfill that is sustainable and in-line with global international standards.
Our autoclave system is a one-step solution to treat healthcare waste. It destroys micro-organisms that may be present with the use of high pressure steam, prior to final disposal at the sanitary landfill. Wet thermal or steam-based disinfection is an efficient and environmentally sound process in which contaminated materials are exposed to temperatures high enough to achieve sterilization, but low enough to avoid emitting pollutants into the atmosphere. This is a key advantage of autoclaving over other waste management methods.
We are dedicated to reducing waste to landfill and ensuring sustainability through recycling services. Our complete waste management and recycling service is an all-inclusive solution to consolidate your waste and have it Re-Used as a raw material. Whether this involves a simple office paper collection service or a full on-site service, the solution will be tailor-made to suit your needs. Our material recovery facility (MRF) accepts co-mingled waste and is designed to separate different types of materials into individual commodities such as paper, glass, plastic and metals.
Incineration reduces the mass of waste by approximately 90 percent. This means the quantity of waste sent to landfill sites is significantly lowered. Our treatment facility is equipped with an incinerator which offers the ultimate service in safe destruction of healthcare waste, pharmaceuticals and any other waste products that can be destructed by this method. Toxins are destroyed when waste is treated with high temperature with our incinerator making it eco-friendly.
Our planet gains inhabitants numbering to 77 million people a year.
It is estimated that each year we generate 3% more waste than the previous year.
When you throw plastic bags and other plastic materials in the ocean, it kills as many as 1 million sea creatures annually.
Glass bottles are the worst thing to throw in a landfill as it is estimated they will take 1 million years to decompose.
It’s not just what goes in the bin that counts as waste – water can be wasted, too. A single leaky tap in your house can waste as much as 5,000 litres of water a year.
